Jamuna Bank hosts seminar on Bangladesh Government Investment Sukuk

As part of strategic focus on Islamic finance, Jamuna Bank PLC organized a seminar titled ‘Exploring Shari’ah-Based Investment Opportunities: Bangladesh Government Investment Sukuk (BGIS)’ on Tuesday.

The seminar was presided over by Mirza Elias Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director & CEO of Jamuna Bank PLC, according to a press release.

The event featured expert insights from the officials of Bangladesh Bank’s Debt Management Department, including Istequemal Hussain, Director as chief guest and his Team. The session, held at the Jamuna Bank Tower and joined by all Divisional Heads, Branch Managers and Operational Managers both physically and virtually, aimed to build internal capacity on Sukuk structuring, investment, and regulatory understanding.

Jamuna Bank reaffirms its commitment to promoting Shari’ah-compliant investment instruments and playing an active role in developing the Islamic finance landscape of Bangladesh.The seminar highlighted the significance of the 6th BGIS, an Ijara Sukuk worth BDT 2,000 crore with a 7-year tenure and 10.50% annual return, open for bidding from May 18-19, 2025.
