Leathertech Bangladesh begins Nov 16

A three-day international tradeshow on machinery, components, chemicals and accessories for leather, footwear and leather goods will start in Dhaka from November 16.

ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd is organising the event titled 'Leathertech Bangladesh 2017' at the International Convention City Bashundara in Dhaka.

The aim of the event is to bring global technology to the doorsteps of the local industry to help it flourish.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed is expected to inaugurate the event.

Nearly 250 exhibitors from 15 countries, including India and China, will be participating in the event, said a press release on Sunday.

The tradeshow will remain open for all from 11am to 7pm every day since November 18.

President of Leathergoods & Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) Md Saiful Islam said the government has a target to fetch US$ 60 billion export earnings from different sectors.

Leather and its related products will contribute 5 billion of the target, he said at a press conference.

In terms of economic value, he said, this sector has valuable contribution.
