Mahbubul Alam resigns as FBCCI president
The government appointed administrator to the apex trade body

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Mahbubul Alam has stepped down from his post.
According to local news portals, the president of the apex trade body sent his resignation letter to the commerce ministry through an e-mail on Monday from Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital, where he has been undergoing treatment.
Dr Munal Mahbub, daughter of Mahbubul Alam and senior vice-president of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also confirmed resignation of her father.
Besides, the government appointed Md Hafizur Rahman, a member of Bangladesh Competition Commission and a retired additional secretary to the government, as the administrator of FBCCI following Trade Organizations Act, 2022.
As per an order, the administrator will ensure an election of the FBCCI and hand over the responsibilities to the elected officials within 120 days.
