The Malaysian government has suspended the licences of 47 manpower recruitment agencies of the country due to various allegations against them.

The country's Ministry of Human Resources announced the matter in a statement on Friday

Meanwhile, the fate of 31,000 Bangladeshi workers scheduled to travel to Malaysia hangs in the balance at Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur airports. Malaysia has already announced that it will not hire any more workers after Friday (May 31). As a result, thousands of workers have flocked to the airports without tickets to take advantage of the last chance.

Nearly 0.5 million Bangladeshi workers have gone to Malaysia since the labour market reopened in 2022 after the Covid-19 pandemic. As the worker quota has now been filled, no more workers will be allowed to enter the country after today (May 31), even with a visa or clearance.
