Mr Md Nurul Azim has been appointed as the Managing Director of Islamic Finance and Investment PLC (IFI PLC) on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Prior to joining IFIPLC, Mr Azim worked for SBAC Bank PLC as Additional Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director, according to a press release.
He has experience working in diverse sectors of banking for over 24 years. He worked in different banks like Premier Bank, Southeast Bank National Bank and SBAC Bank in various capacities. Among them, he served as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Chief Business officer (CBO) in SBAC Bank PLC. He has vast expertise in various banking sector like Credit Division, Foreign Trade Division, General banking, Law and Recovery Division, Credit Administration, Audit, Financial Administration.
Among his achievements, Mr Azim has been recognized as the best ‘Branch Manager’ several times during his service at National Bank and SBAC Bank PLC.
Mr Azim obtained his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Rabindra Bharati University, India and Masters in Economics from the same university. He received training courses on Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism, Green Banking and Green Financing, Environmental Risk Management, Branch Management, Financing Small and Medium Enterprises, Credit Management, Investment and Merchant Banking, Lending Risk Analysis, etc from various reputed institutions of the country.
Throughout his career, Mr Azim has successfully participated in various seminar training and workshops on economics and banking in Singapore, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
He also takes classes at various institutions as an instructor on credit, foreign trade and various banking topics. Mr Azim hails from a respected Muslim family in Patuakhali district.
