The country’s merchandise export earnings in April 2025 witnessed a meagre growth of less than 1.0 per cent year-on-year, followed by a slow growth of garment items.
Bangladesh earned US$ 3.01 billion in April 2025, which was US$2.99 billion in April 2024, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data released on Monday.
Earnings from RMG exports in April 2025 amounted to US$ 2.40 billion, slightly up from US$2.38 billion in April 2024, representing a monthly growth of 0.44 per cent.
The overall exports, however, stood at US$40.20 billion during the July–April period of FY25, reflecting a 9.83 per cent year-on-year growth.
Bangladesh fetched US$36.61 billion during the same period of the last fiscal year, data showed.
As usual, the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector maintained its leading position, contributing US$ 32.64 billion, registering a 10 per cent increase over the same period last year.
