The country’s merchandise exports marked 8.58 per cent growth to fetch US$48.28 billion, riding on the performance of the readymade garment sector, in the just concluded fiscal year of 2024-25.

Bangladesh's export earnings were US$44.46 billion in the fiscal year of 2023-24, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data released on Wednesday.

The single-month export earnings in June 2025, however, witnessed a 7.55 per cent decline to US$3.33 billion, which was US$3.61 billion in June 2024.

Exporters attributed the long Eid-ul-Adha holidays and a two-day complete shutdown of ports due to a stalemate in the National Board of Revenue to the export decline.

Out of the total US$48.28 billion export earnings, RMG fetched US$39.34 billion, marking 8.84 per cent growth, according to EPB data.

Within the RMG segment, knitwear exports rose by 9.73 per cent to US$21.15 billion, while woven garments grew by 7.82 per cent to US$18.18 billion.

Home textiles marked a 2.42 per cent growth to $871.57 million during the July-June period of the last fiscal year.
