Midland Bank Limited (MDB), under an intermediary agreement with Society for Family Happiness and Prosperity (FHP), an NGO, disbursed loans directly to the farmers at 4 per cent interest rate under the Bangladesh Bank Refinancing Scheme in the Agricultural sector to ensure food safety initiatives.
The bank disbursed Tk 2.7 million (27 lacs) among 27 male and female farmers at an open loan disbursement ceremony held on January 3, 2024, at the conference hall of FHP, located at Bajitpur Thana, in Kishorgonj District.
A total loan amount of Tk 10 million (1 crore) was sanctioned by Midland Bank for disbursing among 100 farmers, according to a media release.
Md Ahsan-uz Zaman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Midland Bank Ltd handed over the cheques to the farmers as the chief guest.
Krishno Chandra Das, Executive Director of FHP and Dev Dulal Das, General Secretary of Bajitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries were also present on the occasion as special guests.
Md Javed Tareq Khan, Head of Institutional Banking Division, MDB, Md Ahsan Jamil Hossain, Head of SME Banking Division, MDB, Abdul Barik, Head of Panchrukhi Branch, MDB, along with other executives and officers, attended the ceremony.
