Md. Ahsan-uz-Zaman, Managing Director & CEO of Midland Bank PLC, received a Mastercard-affiliated membership licence from Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager of Mastercard Bangladesh, at a ceremony held at the bank’s head office in Dhaka on Sunday, 1st Feb 2026.
This partnership establishes Midland Bank as a Mastercard-affiliated member, enabling the bank to issue Mastercard credit, debit, and prepaid cards, and allowing customers to enjoy seamless ATM, POS, and e-commerce transactions worldwide, according to a media release.
Additionally, it unlocks digital wallet integrations, cross-border payments, and other innovative Mastercard digital services for faster, more secure everyday banking.
The licence handover ceremony was also attended by Md. Zahid Hossain, Deputy Managing Director & CRO, Md. Nazmul Huda Sarkar, Deputy Managing Director & Head of IT & CTO, Mohd. Javed Tarek Khan, SEVP & Head of the Institutional Banking Division, Md. Rashed Akter, Head of Retail Distribution & Chief Bancassurance Officer from Midland Bank; and Sohail Alim, Director, Mastercard.
