Midland Bank provides financial assistance to metro rail victim's family

Midland Bank Family provided financial assistance of Tk 15 lac to the family of late Abul Kalam, who passed away in the recent metro rail tragedy in Farmgate area, Dhaka, on October 27, 2025.
The bank provided Tk 5 lac financial assistance from its Islami Banking Fund under its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) activity, as part of the bank’s commitment towards social wellbeing, according to a media release.
The remaining Tk 10 lac was contributed by Midland Bank Family Members.
Md. Ahsan-uz Zaman, Managing Director & CEO of the bank, handed over documents to Mrs. Irin Akter Priya, wife of Late Abul Kalam, at a simple ceremony held on November 6, 2025, at the bank’s Head Office in Dhaka.
Didarul Islam, Chief Financial Officer, Syed Sakibuzzaman, Head of Islami Banking Division of Midland Bank, were also present on the occasion.
From the fund, Midland Bank Family, arranged two MDB Saalam Family Support custodial accounts, each of Tk 7,50,000 only favouring the minor son and daughter of late Abul Kalam “ABDULLAH ABRAR” AND “PARISA MARIAM SURA” respectively, to carry on their day-to-day expenses of life, the release adds.
