Modhumoti Bank distributes farm loans to 500 Jhenaidah farmers in partnership with SEHEO

Modhumoti Bank PLC in association with SEHEO (Socio Economic Health Education Organization) organized an open agricultural loan and food distribution program for 500 marginal farmers on 03 July 2025, in SEHEO Convention Center, Chaklapara, Jhenaidah.

Under this program, a total of Tk 100 million loan was disbursed, funded by Modhumoti Bank PLC. This initiative was aimed to support small-scale farmers in building capacity and expanding their agricultural activities, according to a press release.

The program was chaired by Mr. Md. Shafiul Azam, Managing Director and CEO of Modhumoti Bank PLC. He emphasized the importance of agriculture credit for food security of the country. The chief guest of the event, Mr. Mohammad Saifur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Jhenaidah praised the initiative for reaching root level farmers.

Among others, Mr. Debashish Sarkar, Director of Agricultural Credit Division, Bangladesh Bank, attended as Special Guest where heemphasized the importance of participation of Banks in agricultural finance. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Selim Reza, Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Jhenaidah.Mr. Zahid Al Muntasir, Head of SME Division, Modhumoti Bank; and Mr. Md. Gias Uddin, Branch Manager of MMBPLC VIP Road Branch were also present. The event was coordinated by Mr. Md. Shamsul Alam, Founder & Executive Director of SEHEO.

In the program distinguished guests delivered speeches, exchanged their views and ideas on modernisation of Agriculture distribution channel in developing farmer’sself-dependency. Farmers also expressed their heartfelt gratitude for extending bank finance timely and also hope for continuous support.
