MTB PLC has recently disbursed loans to 55 Tribal farmers at Modhupur, Tangail, a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening financial inclusion, promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing the socio-economic development of the indigenous community.
According to a press release, the farmers are given loans at a 7 per cent interest rate under the refinance scheme of “10/50/100-taka account holders” of Bangladesh Bank to empower the marginal community to change their livelihood.
Md. Iqbal Mohasin, Director, Financial Inclusion Department of Bangladesh Bank, graced this event as the Chief Guest and handed over the cheques among 55 Garo Farmers and appreciated the initiative of MTB in strengthening the Financial inclusivity in the indigenous region.
Speaking at the Event, Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, AMD& GCRO of MTB, has stressed the necessity of sustainable agriculture & economy to build a solid socio-economic ecosystem in Bangladesh. While presiding over this auspicious event, he also declared to develop a strong cluster in this region by MTB in the coming days to have a visible impact in this area.
Abdul Mannan, DMD & Head of BBD, Sanjib Kumar Dey, Head of SME &Agri Banking Division, Iftekhar Aziz, Head of SME CRM, Md. Saiful Islam, Unit Head SME CRM, Md. Iftekhar Nahin, Branch Manager, Tangail from MTB and other community leaders and farmers attended the event.
