Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) organised an open loan distribution programme at Hatibandha in Lalmonirhat recently to promote maize production in Bangladesh and reduce dependency on import.
A total of 778 maize farmers received loan at a 4 per cent interest rate under the refinance scheme of Bangladesh Bank, according to a media release.
Md Anwarul Islam, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Rangpur Office distributed the loan sanction letters among the farmers as Chief Guest.
Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of MTB, presided over the programme.
As a part of the event, the bank also arranged a Mezban for all the attendees including the farmers, the release says.
Md. Khalid Mahmood Khan, AMD and CBO, Usman Rashed Muyeen, DMD and HoCRM, Abdul Mannan, Head of Branch Banking Division, Md Shoab Khan Chowdhury, Regional Head of BBD, Sanjib Kumar Dey, Head of SME and Agri Banking Division of MTB along with other officials of MTB and Agro Breeders attended the event.
