Finance Minister AMA Muhith has requested Thailand duty-free-quota-free (DFQF) market access of 36 products from Bangladesh.

He made the request during a meeting with his Thai counterpart Apisak Tantivorawong in Bangkok on Thursday afternoon.

UNB says the bilateral trade volume between the two countries now stands at USD one billion.

Muhith appreciated $1.5 billion Thai investment in Bangladesh and sought greater foreign direct investment (FDI) from Thailand in the food processing and tourism sectors.

He said Bangladesh under Vision 2021 looks forward to working closely with Thailand as two countries pursue robust growth strategies towards graduation to Middle-Income and Developed Countries respectively.

Thai Finance Minister Apisak briefed Bangladesh Finance Minister of Thailand's fiscal and economic opportunities and challenges in coming out of the 'Middle-Income Trap'.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem and senior officials of Bangladesh Embassy and Thai Finance Ministry were also present during the meeting.
