The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced that from July 1, submission of all certificates, licenses, and permits (CLP) from 19 designated organizations must be done through the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) system for import and export customs clearance.

After the mentioned date, no manual certificates, licenses and permits will be accepted for customs clearance of goods, the revenue collecting authority said in a press release.

It said that Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) System has already been implemented under the project implemented by the NBR.

BSW is basically an online platform, using which an importer-exporter can apply online for all types of certificates, licenses and permits (CLP) applicable for the clearance of goods and automatically collect CLP.

Before receiving CLP, one has to register in the BSW system (Website: bswnbr.gov.bd) using Business Identification Number (BIN).

The benefits that can be obtained in import-export activities as a result of using this system are:

All activities related to certificates, licenses and permits applicable to import and export products will be completed online simultaneously by all relevant organizations on a common platform;

Transparency and accountability will be ensured as there is no personal contact (human interaction) in government work;

Time and costs will be reduced in importing and exporting goods;

Investment and trade will expand by creating trust between domestic and foreign businessmen.

The number of certificates, licenses and permits (CLP) already issued automatically from the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) System implemented by the NBR has crossed 3,65,002 on Thursday.

Some 85.76% of the certificates, licenses and permits (CLP) have been issued in less than an hour and 94.68% in less than a day through the automated process.

A policy decision has been taken to submit the issued certificates, licenses and permits through the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) system in the case of 19 organizations (DGDA, EPB, DOEX, BNACWC, BEZA, BEPZA, DOE, BSTI, BAERA, BAEC, CAAB, BTRC, DOF, DLS, PQW, BIDA, BGMEA, BKMEA, CCI&E) that are already issuing certificates, licenses and permits.
