NBR simplifies e-return submission for taxpayers without biometrically registered SIMs
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has simplified the process for taxpayers without biometrically registered SIM cards to submit their e-returns.
Taxpayers who do not have a biometrically registered SIM card, despite possessing a National ID (NID) card, will be unable to file income tax returns online like others. However, the NBR has introduced a solution to ease this process, according to a BSS report.
The NBR has provided details of the procedure, which involves some physical steps.
To begin, a taxpayer in this category needs to apply to the NBR to become eligible for e-return submission. These individuals will need to visit the NBR headquarters in Agargaon.
“Taxpayers without biometric SIM cards can apply in person for e-return registration at the NBR office, Second Secretary (Tax Information Management and Valuation), Room 717,” the NBR stated in a press release.
The statement further mentioned that nearly 10 lakh taxpayers have already submitted their income tax returns.
The deadline for submitting returns without penalties has been extended several times and is now set to end on January 31.
