NCC Bank embarks four new Islamic Banking Windows in Dhaka

NCC Bank has recently hosted the mark of its Islamic Banking Window at the Gulshan, Baridhara, Dhanmondi and Shyamoli Branch with the aim to expand its services based on Islamic Shari'ah.

The formal inauguration of these four windows was recently carried out by the bank’s Managing Director, M. Shamsul Arefin.

At the event, Deputy Managing Director Md. Zakir Anam; SEVP and Head of Business and Branch of Gulshan Branch, Md. Shafiqure Rahman; EVP and Chief of Islamic Banking Division, Abul Quasem Md. Safiullah; EVP and Head of Business and Branch of NCC Islamic Banking Gulshan Branch, Md. Masudur Rahman; SVP and Head of Business and Branch of Baridhara Branch, Syed Atikul Islam, SVP and Head of Business and Branch of Dhanmondi Branch, A. K. M. Jahidul Alam and SVP and Head of Business and Branch of Shyamoli Branch, Md. Jashimuddin along with other concerned officials, were present.

M. Shamsul Arefin, Managing Director of the Bank, stated that considering the current state, challenges, and prospects of Islamic banking in the country, the bank has initiated Shariah-based Islamic banking operations. He further mentioned that they have already received a tremendous response from customers within a short span of time after opening two full-fledged Islamic banking branches—one in Gulshan, Dhaka, and the other in Muradpur, Chattogram.

As a continuation of this effort, the bank plans to launch Islamic Banking Windows at 32 conventional branches initially, in addition to opening more full-fledged Islamic banking branches. Accordingly, Islamic banking operations have already been commenced at the Motijheel Principal Branch, NCC Bank Bhaban Branch, Feni, Mohipal, Parshuram, Chagalnaiya, Sonagazi, Narayangonj, Barisal, Jessore, Khulna as well as the Gulshan, Baridhara, Dhanmondi, and Shyamoli branches. Moving forward, Islamic Banking Windows will be gradually introduced at all branches and sub-branches of the bank.

Arefin also emphasized that the bank is committed to meticulous compliance with Shari'ah guidelines through the oversight of its Shari'ah Supervisory Committee. He encouraged businessmen and customers to be partner with NCC Bank for Islamic Banking and avail seamless service on its digital platform.
