New ESSAB committee pledges electronic safety

The newly elected committee of the Electronics Safety and Security Association of Bangladesh (ESSAB) was formally inaugurated with a pledge to promote electronic safety and security in the country.

The handover ceremony of the new executive committee was held, followed by an 'Iftar and 'Doa' mahfil on Friday at a city hotel, organised by the ESSAB.

Dr Mehdi Amin, Adviser to the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, attended the programme as the chief guest.

Special guests of the programme were Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Mohammad Zayed Kamal and Member of Parliament Khandaker Abu Ashfak (Dhaka-1).

At the event, outgoing ESSAB president Niaz Ali Chishti and the outgoing secretary general Zakir Uddin Ahmed handed over responsibilities to the newly elected board.

The newly elected president Md Didarul Islam and Secretary General Nayeem Uddin Mahmud accepted the responsibilities on behalf of the committee. They also thanked the association members for electing them to lead the organisation.

They expressed their commitment to strengthening electronic safety and improving standards in the sector.

Other members of the new executive committee are: Md Rafiqul Islam and Md Rezaur Rahman as vice-presidents, Mohammad Shahidul Islam as joint secretary general, Md Ashek Kamal as treasurer, and Md Habibur Rahman Helal, Md Rasheduzzaman, Md Samiul Islam Chowdhury, Mizanur Rahman and Sabbir Hossain as executive members.

Md Didarul Islam said ISSAB works to protect people, buildings, and equipment from risks related to electrical and electronic devices.

It involves using proper systems, standards and precautions so that electronics do not cause fire, electric shock, accidents, or system failure.
