Power and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has said that there is no risk of blackout in the country now although some people are trying to create trouble in the power sector.

“No one will be allowed to create any blackout situation…If someone does not want to discharge his duty, alternative manpower are ready to take over the charge,”he said while addressing a seminar in the city on Sunday.

The remarks from the Energy Adviser came against the backdrop of the movement by a section of staff of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) to realise various demands, UNB reports.

He said that the government is working to ensure the safety of power substations.

The energy adviser said the current government may not get much time to reform the energy and power sector, but any attempt at sabotage, such as those by the Palli Biddyut Samity employees, will be strictly dealt with.

Fouzul Kabir said that the reasonable demands of Palli Biddyut Samity have been accepted. “A decision will be taken considering the demands raised by temporary workers to make them permanent. No sudden announcement can be made,” he added.

He said nobody should think that this government is a weak one. “This government is not weak, it is stronger than many governments.”

“If someone from Palli Biddyut Samity leaves without doing their duties, they should leave at once,” the adviser said.
