The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Banaspati Manufacturers Association (BVORBMA) has assured the public that there will be no shortage of cooking oil during Ramadan.
In a statement on Sunday, the association said that more oil is being supplied to the market than usual to ensure its availability throughout the holy month.
To allay concerns over possible shortages, the BVORBMA urged consumers and traders not to panic or stockpile oil.
It added that any artificial shortages caused by hoarding would be swiftly addressed, as international prices for crude soybean and palm oil remain stable.
The association also highlighted that major oil companies have imported more oil than necessary to meet domestic demand, with additional supplies expected to reach the market in the next 7 to 10 days.
The BVORBMA said it is working closely with the government to address any potential supply chain disruptions and called for increased monitoring to prevent hoarding and ensure price stability.
