Onion prices shot up to Tk 100-120 a kg, marking above 30 per cent hike in last two days.

Onion farmers in the region are now sourcing edible onion to grow seed onion (murikata), said Altaf Ali, a spice vendor at West Dhanmondi in Dhaka.
He said the damage in the onion fields caused the price hike in local onion suddenly.
He said prices rose by Tk 15-20 a kg in the mokams (district onion hubs) in a day.
