“Remittance sent by expatriates is one of the key pillars of the country's economy. NRBC Bank has taken initiatives to simplify remittance-related services to support national development and industrialisation”, NRBC Bank Chairman Md. Ali Hossain Prodhanía said.
On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Chairman shared these remarks during a sharing of views with representatives of exchange houses functioning in Bangladesh at the bank's head office, according to a press release.
Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, the Managing Director and CEO of NRBC Bank, Kabir Ahmed and Harunur Rashid, Deputy Managing Directors, and representatives from various exchange houses operating in Bangladesh were present at the meeting.
Chairman Md. Ali Hossain Prodhanía stated that Bangladeshi expatriates working abroad are playing a vital role in meeting the country’s foreign currency needs by sending their hard-earned money through an official channel.
He noted that there is still significant scope to increase remittance inflow by controlling the demand side of hundi.
NRBC Bank aims to harness this potential by simplifying its services and seeks the full cooperation of its key partners—the exchange houses and aggregators, he said.
Managing Director and CEO Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan added that NRBC Bank has an extensive network of branches and sub-branches that deliver banking services right to the doorsteps of rural-level people.
"With the support of exchange houses, NRBC Bank is able to deliver remittance services directly and conveniently to its customers."
Representatives of exchange houses stated that technological advancements simplified the remittance services to the doorstep of the beneficiaries.
They emphasized collaboration between banks in Bangladesh and exchange houses abroad to provide the best possible services to the remitters and beneficiaries, in further boosting inward remittance in Bangladesh.
