The government has cut the price of palm oil by Tk 19 per litre, bringing it down to Tk 150 per litre.
The price of bottled soybean oil remains unchanged at Tk 189 per litre.
Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman announced this at a press conference held at the Secretariat office on Tuesday.
The prices of soybean and palm oils were last fixed on April 15 by the government and leaders of local edible oil refiners' associations.
The maximum retail price (MRP) of bottled soybean oil was set at Tk 189 per litre, while the retail price of loose palm oil was fixed at Tk 169 per litre.
It was stated at Tuesday's event that the government plans to take necessary steps, including issuing import permits (IP) soon, to ease the market situation.
