Prime Bank hosts seminar on financial inclusion and youth empowerment at IUB

Prime Bank PLC., in collaboration with Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB); Its Department of Human Resource Management and Independent HR Society organized a high-impact seminar titled “Financial Inclusion: Engaging & Inspiring Youth in Banking” at the IUB campus.

According to a press release, the program was held under the banner of PrimeAcademia—Prime Bank’s flagship campus initiative designed as a comprehensive, one-stop banking service platform for academic institutions and their stakeholders across Bangladesh.

The seminar was attended by more than two hundred students from diverse academic disciplines. It provided an engaging platform to promote financial literacy, responsible money management and career opportunities in the banking and financial services sector. The initiative also sought to equip young participants with the knowledge and skills essential for employability, entrepreneurship, and leadership in a rapidly evolving economy.

The keynote address was delivered by M. Nazeem A. Choudhury, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Consumer & SME Banking Division, Prime Bank. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of going beyond academic excellence and developing practical competencies such as digital literacy, communication, language proficiency, and presentation skills. In addition to his keynote address, he engaged with students in an interactive question-and-answer session, sharing insights from his real-life experiences and professional successes.

Additional insights were shared by Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Liability, and M. M. Mahbub Hasan, Head of Financial Inclusion & School Banking, who highlighted the critical role of youth empowerment and financial literacy in fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Representing IUB, Professor Daniel W. Lund, Pro Vice Chancellor, along with Dr. Ikramul Hasan, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Human Resource Management; Effat Binte Kabir, Lecturer; Nabila Kamal Promy, Lecturer; and Abdullah Al Ahad, Lecturer, were present at the seminar and shared their perspectives.

A major highlight of the event was the introduction of the “Prime Youth Account”—a student-focused banking solution available in both conventional and Islamic modes. Designed to encourage early financial responsibility, the account enables students to begin their financial journey with ease. On-the-spot account opening facilities were also provided, giving participants the opportunity to directly experience Prime Bank’s modern and customer-friendly banking services.

In their closing remarks, Prime Bank representatives reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to inclusive growth, financial literacy, and youth-centric innovation. They emphasized the importance of engaging the next generation in responsible banking practices as part of the Bank’s broader corporate social responsibility and its long-term vision of nurturing future leaders.

The seminar further underscored the importance of industry-academia collaboration. Both Prime Bank and IUB expressed their commitment to strengthening partnerships through student-focused initiatives, research collaborations, and skill development programs in the years ahead.
