Prime Bank organises BAMLCO Conference 2024 to strengthen AML compliance

Prime Bank PLC recently hosted the BAMLCO Conference 2024. The event, held at the Bank’s Dhaka headquarters, brought together Branch Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officers (BAMLCOs) from across the country, according to a press release Tuesday.

The conference aimed to reinforce compliance practices and increase awareness of anti-money laundering initiatives, highlighting the Bank’s commitment to regulatory excellence and operational integrity.

The event was inaugurated by Mr AKM Ehsan, Executive Director and Acting Head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), who attended the occasion as Chief Guest. The session was chaired by Mr Hassan O Rashid, CEO of Prime Bank. Mr Md Ziaur Rahman, DMD and CAMLCO, delivered the welcome speech, addressing the participants.

Mr Md Abdul Aowal Choudhury, Additional Director of BFIU, conducted a session discussing the risks and challenges faced by banks in preventing financial crimes, as well as the role and responsibilities of BAMLCOs in ensuring AML compliance.

The programme concluded with the recognition of ten BAMLCOs for their exceptional performance in combating money laundering and terrorist financing through banking channels.
