Rail communication between Khulna and the rest of the country resumed on Friday night, five hours after services were halted following the derailment of a freight train bound for Chuadanga near Utholi railway station in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga.
Mintu Roy, station master of Utholi in Chuadanga, stated that train communication returned to normal after the rescue operation was completed around 10:30 pm.
He mentioned that senior officials of the Pakshi Railway Division were informed immediately after the accident and promptly initiated the rescue efforts.
Currently, all trains are running according to the scheduled timetable, he added.
Although no injuries were reported in the accident, several passenger trains were stranded at various stations during this period.
Earlier, the derailment occurred on Friday around 5:30 pm on the main line heading towards Darshana, about 100 yards from Utholi station.
