CHATTOGRAM, Jan 09: A month-long flower festival, showcasing a stunning display of 127 species of domestic and foreign flowers, commenced at DC Park in Faujdarhat under Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram on Friday morning.

Senior Secretary of Public Administration Md. Ehsanul Haque inaugurated the flower festival as the chief guest.

Additionally, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Chattogram Range DIG Md. Ahsan Habib Palash, and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan addressed the occasion as special guests.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chattogram Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah presided over the inaugural function.

During his address, Md. Ehsanul Haque praised the local administration for their exceptional efforts in organising the flower festival.

He emphasised the positive impact the gardens of DC Park had on visitors and commended the initiative to reclaim 194 acres of government land from drug addicts and transform it into a scenic park with expansive flower gardens.

Ehsanul Haque expressed optimism that once the development of DC Park is complete, it will serve as a model project for other districts in Bangladesh.

He highlighted the potential of the tourism industry in creating employment opportunities and expressed hope that DC Park would significantly contribute to the development of Chattogram's tourism sector.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin, speaking as a special guest, praised the Chattogram district administration for establishing an exquisite entertainment center like DC Park. He expressed confidence that the park would soon become one of the most favored leisure destinations for Chattogram residents.

The transformation of the park has been remarkable. Reclaimed from illegal occupation on January 4, 2023, the government land spanning 194 acres, including two dighis, has been converted into a flourishing park within a month. Over the past year, the park has undergone extensive infrastructure development, with the addition of numerous entertainment facilities, including a Kids Zone, Boat Ride, and Boat Museum.
