RedOrange celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 on Sunday (March 8) with support from Youth Share-Net Bangladesh (YSN) project through a series of youth-led awareness activities across different regions of the country, engaging young people and community members in discussions on women’s rights, justice and equality.

This year’s global theme—“Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”—guided the day-long observance aimed at promoting gender equality and the protection of women’s and girls’ rights. With support from the Youth Share-Net, six downstream partner organisations organised rallies, community discussions and awareness sessions in different districts during the morning programme.

Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) hosted events in two locations—Bakalia under the Chittagong City Corporation and Kawkhali under the Rangamati Upazila—bringing together youth leaders and local residents to discuss women’s empowerment and access to rights. In Shewrapara, Mirpur, SERAC Bangladesh organised a discussion session highlighting gender equality, youth engagement and community responsibility toward women’s safety and dignity.

Another discussion programme was arranged by Youth for Action and Development (YAD) at Shahid Ramij Uddin Ma O Shishu Kollyan Kendra in Hazaribag, Dhaka, where community members and youth participants reflected on the importance of ensuring safe spaces and equal opportunities for women and girls.

In addition, partner organisations AVAS in Barishal Sadar, Dalit in Khulna Sadar, and Prantoz in Khulna Sadar also organised community-level programmes to observe the day and raise awareness on women’s rights and gender justice.

Later in the afternoon, a separate celebration was held at RedOrange’s office. The programme began with a warm reception where male colleagues welcomed female colleagues with flowers and symbolic bracelets in appreciation of their contributions.

The session included a candlelight moment accompanied by the inspirational song, followed by a reflection segment where participants shared stories about the role of women in their lives. The event concluded with reinforcing the spirit of solidarity, respect and inclusion.

Through these activities, Youth Share-Net and its partners reaffirmed their commitment to promoting gender equality, youth participation and the protection of women’s and girls’ rights across communities.
