Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, managing director of Rising Group, has been elected president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for the term 2025-27.
The BGMEA election board on Saturday announced that the president and seven vice-presidents were elected unopposed, as there were no other contestants.
Salim Rahman has been elected first vice-president and Inamul Haq Khan senior vice-president, according to a statement. Other vice-presidents are: Md Rezwan Selim, Mijanur Rahman
(finance), Vidiya Amrit Khan, Md Sehab Udduza Chowdhury and Mohammad Rafique Chowdhury.
The 35 directors, including eight office-bearers, are scheduled to take charge on June 16. Earlier on May 31, Forum panel led by Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu won the BGMEA biennial elections securing 31 out of 35 director posts.
