Workers of a garment factory blocked the road in the capital's Tejgaon on Saturday morning protesting against closure of the factory without prior notice.

Police said employees of Posh Garments gathered at the Tibet intersection after 10am on Sunday when they found the factory shut without prior notice.

They then took to the streets, halting traffic from Mohakhali to Saat Rasta. They barricaded both sides of the Mohakhali-Tejgaon road at Tibet intersection around 11:00am, leaving vehicular movement suspended and causing immense suffering to commuters.

A clothing factory named 'Posh Garments Ltd.' was closed on Thursday (August 21, 2025) without prior notice.

A police official of Tejgaon Industrial Police said that being angered by the decision of the factory owner, the workers blocked the road.

He said the workers demand the factory authorities must follow appropriate rules to close it or reopen, otherwise, they will continue their movement.

He said that after talks with the factory owner and others, the workers were assured that a meeting would be held later on Sunday. Around 1:45pm, they lifted their blockade and traffic resumed, police said.
