Shahjalal Islami Bank holds workshop on AML, CFT compliance in Chattogram

Anti-Money Laundering Division of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC organized a day-long workshop titled, ‘Zonal AML/CFT Compliance workshop for BAMLCOs in Chattogram’ on May 16, 2025 at a local hotel in Chattogram for the Branch Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officers in collaboration with Zonal Office, Chattogram.

According to a press release, 32 branches of the Chattogram Zone participated in the workshop.

Mr. Md. Mosharrof Hossain, Joint Director, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, was present as the Key Speaker in the workshop.In addition, Mr. Mustafa Husain, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, delivered speech on Anti-Money Laundering and Prevention of Terrorist Financing in the workshop.

Among others, the Deputy Managing Director & Zonal Head, Chattogram of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, Mr. Rashed Sarwar, the Head of Anti-Money Laundering Division at Corporate Head Office and Deputy Chief Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer, Mr. Md. Asadul Islam Khan were present in the workshop.

In the workshop, the Speakers urged the officers to always be vigilant and proactive in fulfilling their responsibilities in light of the country's existing laws, regulations, all instructions of Bangladesh Bank and BFIU and internal policies of the Bank.If we fail to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing in any way, the country, the economy, our bank and officers responsible will also have to suffer the consequences.

Moreover, for the sake of the country's security and sustainable development, we have to take the right steps in this regard. Institutional initiatives must be strengthened to make the country free from money laundering and terrorist financing only then the country will move towards sustainable development. Money laundering hinders the overall development of a country. If we can take timely decisions on this issue and implement them properly, then this country will truly move towards progress.
