The 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB) was held on Saturday, 25 January 2025, at Fortune Square Convention Hall in Dhaka.
It was presided over by Md. Rezaul Karim, Chairman, SCB, according to a media release.
At the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed to pay respect to former Chairmen & Members of SCB, business leaders and prominent citizens who passed away during the last year.
The meeting reviewed the performances of the Council during the last year and other matters, including the country’s trade, shipping and port-related problems in the context of the world foreign trade situation.
The meeting discussed its involvement and progress of the Council's activities with the Asian Shippers Alliance (ASA) and Global Shippers Alliance (GSA) were also discussed.
The meeting expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Advisor for taking the decision to reduce the increased VAT and supplementary duty on several goods and services, including mobile phone services, restaurants and medicines, among the 100 goods & services which was increased by the interim government.
In addition, the members of the SCB expressed their sincere thanks to Board of Directors for distributing a significant amount of food items & winter clothing to help the poor & helpless people in different areas of the country.
The meeting unanimously confirmed the minutes of the last AGM, approved the Annual Report-2024, the Audited Balance Sheet & Statement of Accounts for the year 2023-2024 and appointed an auditor for the year 2024-2025.
Senior Vice Chairman Md. Ariful Ahsan, Vice Chairman Ganesh Chandra Saha and Directors, along with a good number of members, attended the meeting.
