Solidaridad Bangladesh has teamed up with two private entities in the country to launch an innovative range of soya bean-based foods aimed at promoting health, sustainability, and rural empowerment.
At a launch event held at Gulshan in the city on Thursday, they unveiled ready-to-cook, natural soya bean products, including tofu, protein balls, ruti, and raw soya beans.
All products are made following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), ensuring safety, quality, and sustainability. The products have been developed under the joint collaboration of Solidaridad and Fowzia Healthy Food Products while Unimart, a leading superstore chain, will deal with sales, said a Solidaridad press release.
Selim Reza Hasan, country manager of Solidaridad Bangladesh; Mozibul Haque, head of Supply Chain and Private Sector Engagement; Kaushik Rahman, head of Operations at Unimart; and Ms. Afroza Sultana, owner of Fowzia Food, jointly inaugurated the event.
"This launch represents resilience, innovation, and empowerment," said Selim Reza Hasan. "These products reflect the dedication of our farmers and women entrepreneurs."
Mr. Mozibul Haque said that their agri-business vision goes beyond soya beans, aiming to include vegetables, fruits, and fish, with the support from retail partners like Unimart to drive systemic transformation.
Solidaridad has been working in Bangladesh's coastal regions to uplift soya bean farmers through better seeds, training, and market access. Their partnership with farmers and private entities has also enabled rural women to become entrepreneurs and integrate into formal agri-value chains.
