Southeast Bank Sponsor Director Azim Uddin Ahmed passes away

Azim Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Sponsor Director and Former Chairman of Southeast Bank PLC, passed away on Thursday (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).

The bank expressed deep sorrow at his passing and extended heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.

Born on 30 June 1940 into a respected Muslim family, Mr Ahmed was a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s business and banking sectors.

He served on the Board of Directors of Southeast Bank and chaired its Risk Management Committee. He also held key leadership roles as Chairman of Mutual Group and AD Holdings Ltd, and was a Director and former Chairman of Arla Foods Bangladesh Ltd.

Mr Ahmed played a significant role in the development of higher education in Bangladesh. He was a founding life member and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of North South University, as well as a life member of its Foundation.

He also made notable contributions to social welfare and philanthropy, founding several institutions including a mosque in his home district of Feni, and actively supporting various community initiatives.
