The two-day ‘Southeast University Job Fair 2026’ concluded on Thursday with a closing ceremony held at the university premises.

Mr Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, state minister of the Ministry of Planning, joined the programme as the chief guest, while Mr T M Asaduzzaman, senior education specialist at the World Bank, was present as special guest.

The event was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of Southeast University Prof Dr Yusuf Mahbubul Islam.

The closing session began with welcome remarks by the Pro Vice Chancellor of Southeast University, Prof. Dr M. Mofazzal Hossain. Prof. Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossen, Member of UGC, attended the event as the guest of honour.

At the closing session, the state minister emphasised the crucial role of universities in safeguarding national independence and sovereignty, says a media release.

The minister stated that universities serve as vital platforms for knowledge dissemination, fostering unity among citizens and contributing significantly to nation-building.

Highlighting economic challenges, he referred to alleged large-scale financial irregularities in the previous government, noting that such issues have adversely affected investment, employment, and GDP growth.

Mr Saki stressed that national development is not the sole responsibility of the government; rather, it requires collective efforts from all sectors of society to achieve meaningful progress. He also paid tribute to the “July warriors,” particularly four individuals from Southeast University, expressing optimism that collaborative efforts would drive the country forward.

The Southeast University Registrar Maj Gen Anwarul Islam (Retd.), deans of various schools, department heads, administrative officials, faculty members, alumni, and students, among others, were present at the event.

A total of 55 multinational and leading national organisations from diverse sectors—including banking, financial services, automobile, pharmaceuticals, elecommunications, information technology, healthcare, hospitality, electronics, and real estate—participated in the fair.

The organisations collected CVs, conducted on-site interviews, and offered employment opportunities to qualified graduates of Southeast University.

In addition to recruitment activities, the two-day event featured seminars and specialised sessions designed to enhance employability skills. The university management expressed optimism that the event would serve as an effective platform for connecting job seekers with corporate employers.
