The second tea auction centre of Bangladesh will be opened at Sreemangal of Moulvibazar from next month.
The government has already approved the tea auction centre in the district. Currently the port city Chittagong hosts the only tea auction centre.
Commerce ministry's Additional Secretary Md Abdur Rauf handed over the approval letter to Moulvibazar district administration and Tea Planters & Traders Association of Bangladesh recently.
Md Abdur Rauf said as per Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina's pledge, the tea auction centre will be opened soon at the second highest tea production hub of the country.
Moulvibazar district administration and Tea Planters & Traders Association of Bangladesh will arrange the launching programme.
According to UNB, an open discussion was held at a resort at Sreemangal on Friday night over launching the second tea auction centre here in December.
