Syngenta Bangladesh has unveiled ‘SheShines’, a new initiative under its sustainability programme, dedicated to empowering rural women by enhancing their capacity building, financial independence, and role in the agricultural value chain.
The launch event was inaugurated by Hedayet Ullah, Managing Director of Syngenta Bangladesh with the gracious presence of Ms. Zinat Ara, Director General (Additional Secretary), Department of Jute, Ministry of Textile & Jute, along with of rural women, according to a press release.
SheShine is more than just a project – it's a platform to crystalize the potential of rural women in Bangladesh. Focusing on skill development aligns with Cottage, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise’s, capacity building, and access to finance and information. We're paving the way for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and economic independence.
Women are at the heart of rural economies, yet they often lack access to resources and opportunities. Through SheShines, Syngenta aim to bridge this gap by equipping rural women with the knowledge, tools, and financial access needed to thrive. This initiative is a testament to Syngenta’s long-term commitment to gender equality and sustainable rural development.
Syngenta is a joint venture public limited company. Syngenta AG Switzerland holds 60 per cent of the shares, and the Bangladesh government holds 40 per cent through Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC). Syngenta Bangladesh is fully committed to ensuring food security by supporting the farmers of Bangladesh to grow more food in a sustainable way.
