The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has extended its open market sale (OMS) programme of key essential items for four days until February 26.

The programme was to end this Tuesday, Humayun Kabir, a spokesperson for TCB, told The Financial Express.

The government trading arm is now selling essential commodities by using 400-450 trucks across the country, he said.

Soybean oil is being sold at Tk 110 per litre, sugar at Tk 55 per kg, lentil at Tk 65 per kg, and onion at Tk 30 per kg, Mr Kabir said.

A consumer can buy a maximum of two kgs of sugar, two kgs of lentils, and two litres of soybean oil from TCB trucks, the TCB spokesman said.

The TCB-run OMS programme is meant for providing key essential items to low-income people at relatively lower prices.
