Technical textiles, machinery expos begin in Germany on April 21

The Techtextil and Texprocess-2026, one of leading technical textiles and machinery exhibitions, will kick off on April 21 next year in Frankfurt, Germany creating an opportunity for value-added garment producers including Bangladesh.

With changes in global demand toward specialised, high-performance materials, the four-day long fair is expected to offer a critical platform for Bangladesh to explore new product categories, advanced technologies and industry applications that can support its transition beyond basic apparel manufacturing, organisers said at a press conference.

Messe Frankfurt -- the global leader in textile trade shows -- held an exclusive press conference at The Westin Dhaka to announce the 2026 editions of Techtextil and Texprocess.

Speaking at the press briefing, Messe Frankfurt SP Bangladesh head of operations Romana Afroze said the dedicated Bangladesh pavilion -- jointly organised by the Export Promotion Bureau and the BGMEA -- would showcase leading companies producing technical and value-added textiles, highlighting the country's growing capabilities in high-value garment and textile production.

Underscoring the strategic importance of these flagship fairs, she said the shows would help continue to push the boundaries of innovation, sustainability, and technology adoption across the global textile and apparel industries.

Bangladesh has been identified as one of the five most important visitor countries for the upcoming fairs, she said, adding its delegation comprising companies, trade visitors and sector representatives is expected to play a prominent role on one of the world's largest platforms for technical textiles, advanced fabrics and garment machinery.

The combined platform would allow visitors to explore the full textile chain within one exhibition ground, from fibre production and advanced machinery to innovative fabrics, end-use applications, and recycling technologies.

The organisers said that such exposure would be particularly timely for Bangladesh, given the growing demand for technical textiles across sectors including healthcare, automotive, construction, and sports.

Each year, more than 100 Bangladeshi trade visitors attend the fairs, engaging with exhibitors from Europe, Asia, and beyond.

With 14 country pavilions at Techtextil and dedicated pavilions from China and Taiwan at Texprocess, the events offer Bangladeshi manufacturers direct access to cutting-edge machinery, new materials, and global market trends.

Such participation strengthens Bangladesh's position in sustainable, high-performance textile production and opens new pathways for collaboration, technology transfer, and international market expansion.
