The telecom regulator has directed Teletalk and Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL) to settle their combined dues of around Tk 30 billion.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) issued the directive at a meeting with the top officials of the two companies at its office in Dhaka on Thursday, according to local media.
Teletalk owes Tk 18.49 billion to the BTRC for licence fees, revenue sharing, spectrum fees, and contributions to the social obligation fund.
BTCL has a debt of over Tk 11 billion, comprising revenue shares and various fees.
BTRC's commissioner for finance, accounts and revenue Musfiq Mannan Choudhury presided over Thursday's meeting.
BTCL's managing director (additional charge) Md Anwar Hossain, and Teletalk's managing director AKM Habibur Rahman, among others, attended the meeting.
