Three enterprises have been awarded Feminist Green Action Award 2025, the first of its kind, for their contribution to compliant, environment-friendly, and gender sensitive business practices.

Tripty Boutique House under Centre for Development and Peace (CDP), and Ecolery Bangladesh received the award in the SME category, while Aman Spinning Mills Ltd was given the award in corporate category.

The winners received crests and prize money at an award-giving ceremony held in a city hotel on Wednesday evening hosted by ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB).

Launched by the AAB, the first-ever Feminist Green Action Award recognises outstanding efforts by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and corporate entities leading the way in sustainable and inclusive environmental practices.

AAB Country Director Farah Kabir moderated the programme while Chair of the Board of ActionAid Australia Belinda Morrissey, ICC Bangladesh Secretary General Ataur Rahman, diplomats, representatives of civil society organisations, corporate stakeholders, and numerous SME entrepreneurs attended the ceremony.

A total of 27 applications were submitted online by the deadline of April 20. After a rigorous review process by an expert panel, three finalists were selected.

The jury comprised Suraya Akter, Country Manager of suPPPort, Biplob Ghosh Rahul, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of eCourier Limited, Nasreen Fatema Awal, Founding President of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB), Tanjir Hossain, Global Resilience Adviser, IHART at ActionAid International and Farah Kabir.

The selection process focused on initiatives that prioritised sustainable production and supply chains, environmentally responsible infrastructure, just transition and green employment, and gender-sensitive innovation.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Farah Kabir said: "This initiative is the first of its kind in Bangladesh to recognise and celebrate the role of SMEs and corporates in building a fair and feminist green future. Through this recognition, we aim to inspire others to join the movement for green transformation and drive positive change for people and the planet alike," she said.

The evening began with a traditional folk music performance, followed by an engaging jazz ensemble.
