TikTok, in collaboration with the Bangladesh government, has launched a dedicated STEM Feed - a new in-app feature designed to promote credible and engaging educational content in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The initiative, unveiled at an event in a Dhaka hotel, marks a significant step in TikTok's investment in educational content and digital inclusion across the country. The launch brought together senior government officials, TikTok representatives, educators and digital creators engaged in shaping Bangladesh's e-learning transformation.
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, adviser to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, attended the programme as special guest.
The STEM Feed will provide users with a curated stream of reliable STEM videos to help bridge gaps in learning between urban and rural learners, many of whom face barriers to traditional educational resources.
Alongside the feed, TikTok introduced the hashtag #STEMTok, which will feature content produced by local creators, publishers and educational partners in Bangla and other languages.
Adviser Farooki said the initiative has the potential to inspire innovation among Bangladesh's youth.
"Bangladesh's young people are naturally curious and creative. When we pair that creative spirit with safe, credible STEM learning, we nurture a culture of innovation and problem-solving. Tools like TikTok's STEM Feed can bring quality education into everyday life and make learning more accessible to all," he added.
Ferdous Mottakin, head of Public Policy and Government Relations for South Asia at TikTok, described STEM Feed as a meaningful step in enhancing digital learning.
"By working with parents, teachers and policymakers, we want to ensure this platform supports national goals for digital inclusion and youth empowerment," he said.
TikTok also highlighted its safety-by-design features - including Family Pairing, Time-Away Scheduling, Teen Network Visibility and Proactive Reporting Alerts - aimed at ensuring responsible use and safeguarding young learners online. The platform's global Community Guidelines will ensure that only credible, age-appropriate educational content is promoted.
With the launch of STEM Feed, TikTok reaffirmed its commitment to educational innovation and underscored the importance of collaboration between government, industry and creators to expand access to quality learning and inspire the next generation of innovators in Bangladesh.
