Workers of TNZ Group on Saturday rejected the payment offer of Tk 30 million before Eid after the arrangement was reached with government intervention against their total dues of Tk 171.3 million.
Workers of the Group's three readymade garment factories, TNZ Apparels Ltd, Apparel Plus Eco Ltd, and Apparel Art Ltd, have been staging demonstration at the Shrama Bhaban for last five days to realise their due payments for three months.
They said they were paid only over Tk 10 million out of the total arrears.
After a meeting with factory and workers' representatives of the group, AHM Shafiquzzaman, labour secretary, at a press briefing at Shrama Bhaban in Saturday evening said three of the top officials of the group will be under the custody of law enforcing agencies until the owner arrives from abroad.
He also said Tk 30 million would be arranged after selling their machineries before Eid day.
However, instantly rejecting the decision, workers said they would continue their protests until they are fully paid with the due wages, Eid bonus, and other payments.
The labour secretary further noted that after the Eid holidays, he would sit again on April 08 to discuss TNZ Group's issues.
