A town hall meeting was held at NRBC Bank's Comilla Zone on Friday, August 1, 2025, at a hotel in Feni. Chairman of the bank, Md. Ali Hossain Prodhania was the chief guest at the event, according to a press release.
During the event, the bank's Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, DMD and CFO Harunur Rashid, and Kazi Mohammad Ziaul Karim, Zonal Head, Cumilla, along with all officials from branches and sub-branches of the region were present.
In his speech as the chief guest, Chairman Mr. Md. Ali Hossain Prodhania said that the classified loans must be brought down from the current 5 percent to zero in the Cumilla Zone comprising Cumilla, Noakhali, Chandpur and Feni. He emphasized the need to ensure compliance with rules and regulations, transparency and accountability in banking operations.
He further stressed the importance of enhancing the quality of assets by maintaining loan discipline and implementing necessary legal procedures to improve loan recovery. He noted it would help ensure corporate governance and compliance, while also increasing the bank's profitability and progress in other key indicators. Additionally, He highlighted the importance of reducing fund costs by achieving targets for interest-free and low-interest deposits and emphasized increasing loan disbursement in the CMSME (Cottage, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) sector.
Managing Director and CEO Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan stated that the bank has a vast network of branches and sub-branches, even in remote areas. In Comilla, alongside large industries, there are micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME). The bank should enhance its overall services to develop these sectors through its branches and sub-branches.
