A daylong training workshop on simplifying “E-Traffic Management and Fine Collection” was organised in Rajshahi through Community Bank Bangladesh PLC, according to a press release.
The initiative focused on easing traffic case fine payments under Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), with participation from traffic inspectors and sergeants of RMP and district police. The workshop was facilitated by Community Bank Bangladesh PLC.
The training was inaugurated by Superintendent of Police of Rajshahi District, Ms. Farzana Islam. It was conducted under the supervision of SP Kamrun Nahar of the In-Service Training Center and Assistant Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Mofakkarul Islam. Representing Community Bank, Head of Cards Mr. Zahir Ahmed attended as special guest. The overall program was overseen and supported by the bank’s Managing Director (Current Charge)Mr. Kimiwa Saddat.
With this system, traffic fines can now be paid conveniently using POS machines through any bank card, mobile financial service, or banking app. Previously, lack of collection booths in Rajshahi city and surrounding areas made it difficult for vehicle owners to deposit fines after cases were filed.
To address this, Community Bank has introduced an upgraded POS system with modern software, enabling instant payments via Visa, debit, and credit cards from multiple banks. Additionally, the process supports Bangladesh Bank’s designated Smart Bangladesh QR Code (SB QR), allowing payments through popular mobile financial services such as bKash, Nagad, Rocket, and mCash, alongside 21 online banking apps and 56 gateways under Bangladesh’s National Payment Switch—making a total of 78 payment channels.
All collected fines will be transferred to the government treasury through Community Bank’s secure payment channel. This digital process will also reduce the need for retaining documents in most cases.
Senior officials from Community Bank Attended the workshop along with police officials from different ranks.
