Trust Bank PLC unveils its first-ever annual sustainability report-2024.

Mr Chowdhury Liakat Ali, Director of the Sustainable Finance Department (SFD) of Bangladesh Bank and Mr Ahsan Zaman Chowdhury, Managing Director & CEO of Trust Bank PLC unveiled Trust Bank’s first-ever annual sustainability report along with other senior executives and officials of the bank.

Mr. Akhlasur Rahman Bhuiyan, DMD & CRO, Mr. Md. Kamal Hossain Sarker, DMD & Head of IBD, Mr. A.B.M. Mizanur Rahman, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Credit Risk Management Division & Sustainable Finance Unit, Mr. Kamrul Hasan, Joint Director, Mr. Md. Abu Rayhan, Joint Director of the central bank and Md Abu Nayeem, Assistant Director of the SFD, Bangladesh Bank were also present.

The report, prepared with a focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and strategic priorities in line with the IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 standards, as well as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations aims to strengthen the awareness and capacity of the bank's executives and officials regarding sustainable banking practices and to support the bank's long-term strategic objectives.

Chowdhury Liakat Ali, Director of the Sustainable Finance Department (SFD) of Bangladesh Bank, in his keynote address, elaborated on the current landscape of sustainable finance, green finance, refinancing, and environmental and social risk management. He underscored the growing significance of this sector and lauded Trust Bank for publishing its "1^st Annual Sustainability Report".

"Trust Bank has already been ranked among the country's top sustainable banks for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023). Trust Bank has been conducting its operations in line with Bangladesh Bank's guidelines, giving due importance to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors and has taken a very responsible step towards taking care of the triple bottom line–people, planet and profit–and proven its commitment toward a sustainable future”, Mr. Ahsan Zaman Chowdhury, Managing Director & CEO of Trust Bank PLC, said while presiding over the program.
