Ride-hailing service Uber launched its bike-sharing product, UberMOTO, in Dhaka.

The bike-sharing product will bring another option to riders to get from one place to another at the tap of a button.

Star cricketer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took the first UberMOTO ride in Dhaka on Tuesday.

"We are excited to be able to use our technology to not only contribute greatly towards improving urban mobility in Dhaka and to cutting congestion but also be instrumental in creating thousands of economic opportunities for the youth," said Arpit Mundra, General Manager of Uber in Dhaka.

According to UNB, UberMOTO gives riders an affordable and convenient motorcycle ride at the push of a button through the Uber app.

Riders receive driver and bike details just as they do for other Uber rides, as well as all standard safety features before, during and after the ride, including GPS tracking, two-way feedback and the ability to share trip details with family and friends.

The riders using the two-wheeler service can travel 4 kilometres at less than Tk 60 in the capital. The popular ride-sharing venture also declared some distance-based prices.

A recent Facebook post by the San Francisco-based global transportation technology company says the fare for an 8km drive will be less than Tk 120 and for 20km it will cost less than Tk 300.
