UCB concludes month-long entrepreneurship development program in Bogura with BB support

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has recently concluded a month-long Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) in Bogura, aimed at empowering potential and existing entrepreneurs who are currently outside the formal banking and financing network.

According to a press release, the initiative was carried out with the support of Bangladesh Bank under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP), an initiative of the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh.

The intensive 100-hour training program focused on developing key entrepreneurial skills, enhancing business acumen, and promoting financial inclusion among participants from the Bogura region. The program underscores UCB’s continued commitment to SME development and economic empowerment at the grassroots level.

The closing ceremony of the program was graced by high-profile dignitaries, including Md. Shakhawat Hossain, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank; Mohammad Wasim, Joint Director, Bangladesh Bank; Md. Ariful Islam, Deputy Director & Program Coordinator, SICIP-PIU, SMESPD, Bangladesh Bank; Md. Rashidul Islam, GM, Sonali Bank PLC; Md. Shah Alam Bhuiyan, Deputy Managing Director, UCB; and Mohammad Salim Chowdhury, Head of SME & Agri Banking Division, UCB, alongside other UCB officials and local entrepreneurs.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in UCB’s strategic collaboration with the Bangladesh Bank to strengthen entrepreneurship and industrial competitiveness in Bangladesh through inclusive financing and capacity-building initiatives.
