The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has pledged support to strengthen Bangladesh's international trade capabilities, with a focus on human resource development as the country approaches its graduation from least developed country (LDC) status.
The commitment came during a meeting between UNDP Resident Representative in Bangladesh Stefan Liller and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the latter's office in the capital on Monday, according to a press statement issued by the commerce ministry.
Mr Muktadir said, "Developing skilled personnel is crucial for effective participation in international trade, especially after our LDC graduation. UNDP's support can be a game-changer in this regard," the minister said.
In response, Mr Liller reaffirmed UNDP's readiness to launch targeted interventions to help Bangladesh remain competitive in the global market.
