Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL), the country’s leading Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company, has been recognised for its outstanding contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangladesh. The company was honoured at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2024, held at the Bangladesh Sustainable Summit on Wednesday. UBL's innovative efforts in Sustainable Partnerships and women's empowerment were celebrated with industry-wide acclaim.
The event, attended by over 450 industry leaders and stakeholders, featured keynote remarks from Zaved Akhtar, Chairman and Managing Director of UBL.
During the awards ceremony, UBL received two prestigious awards: the ‘Sustainable Partnerships & Institutions’ award for its successful public-private partnerships and the ‘Women’s Inclusion and Leadership in Manufacturing’ award for its efforts in advancing female workforce inclusion.
Additionally, UBL earned honourable mentions in two other categories: ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’ for its ‘URefill’ sustainable packaging solution and ‘Industry Innovation and Infrastructure’ for the Chattogram Kalurghat Factory (KGF).
UBL's initiative in Chattogram, aimed at fostering a plastic circular economy, was highlighted as a major advancement in sustainable environmental and plastic waste management.
The company’s commitment to creating impactful roles for female employees was also acknowledged, underscoring UBL’s continuous efforts to support and empower women in the workforce.
